Garage door opener keep running

If the motor on your garage door runs but the door isn’t opening, you may not be able to tell what the problem is.   Here are a few tips

The Trolly is disengaged (emergency release)

Your garage door has a manual disconnect.  This is a lever on a red rope hanging down by the door.  If the rope is tugged, it will disconnect the trolley from the garage door opener.  If you pull the rope up and back towards the opener it should snap back into place.

If this is your issue, you’re in luck.

Garage door is frozen or stuck

In cold weather the garage door can freeze to the pavement, ice melt can handle that pretty quickly.  Dirt and debris in the track can case this or there may be a dent or kink in the track that needs to be straightened out.  We can fix that.

Worn Gear in opener

If the teeth in the gears are ground down, they won’t be able to grab each other and pull  the garage door open on a chain drive opener.  Wear and tear can cause this or the chain was too tight.

Broken Spring

A broken spring is used as a counter weight for your garage door motor.  If the spring is broken, the door will be too heavy to lift. This is the same reaction you get if you have another issue Door is too heavy.  In either case Do not attempt to fix this yourself. Spring systems are under a lot of tension.  Contact us to fix this problem.
